LRT
European Leader
Egis Rail has rapidly risen to the position of European leader in public transport engineering and has, through numerous innovations, made a large contribution to the revival and modernisation of the LRT: low-floored carriages, priority systems, assisted maintenance… During the last 30 years, we have conceived, designed, brought to fruition or run more than 1000 km of lines in France and internationally.
We contribute to the success of these operations, which often have a symbolic significance, by watertight planning and budgeting.
Underground Rail
Recognised Pioneer
During the last 40 years, we have conceived, designed and brought to fruition 500 km of underground lines in France and internationally, including almost 180 km of driverless underground lines. Egis Rail’s expertise in automatic wide-gauge underground systems, developed over more than 15 years, has made the company a recognised provider in this sector. Our know-how extends from the design to the implementation of infrastructure works linked to this mode of transport: tunnels, viaducts, underground or elevated stations, involving excellent mastery of underground work. It also comprises the design and implementation of workshop-depots, in addition to rail, energy and station equipment, and all elements related to operational systems.
Numerous towns have entrusted our experts with the design, implementation or modernisation of their underground lines. Egis Rail’s involvement in operational systems using advanced technology has placed it in a leading position for driverless underground systems.
Tram-train, Peri-urban transport
Rail and urban expertise which go hand in hand
From its creation, our company has been the source of numerous technological innovations and developments. These innovative practices are not limited to technological aspects. Innovation is also expressed through a more general approach to transport systems themselves: their interconnection, their optimisation, through new innovations.
Following the RER (rapid transport system), the high-speed LRT running in isolation on disused railway lines, or the light train running on tracks dedicated to passenger transport, we are now particularly interested in the designing of a new type of rolling stock: the tram-train, which combines the aesthetics and flexibility of the urban LRT with the aptitude to make use of the railway network and adapt to the operational constraints specific to a railway system.
Conventional railway lines
Complete railway expertise for your projects
Between 1978 and 1990, Egis Rail began by developing its experience of railway transport through the provision of numerous services for departmental or peri-urban transport systems. Since the creation of the RFF (French Railway Network), Egis Rail has offered assistance in the context of its studies for the modernisation of the national network.
This was followed by more specific studies on heavy rail systems. Today, our experience covers all areas of railway transport and its interfaces: transport economy, operation, rolling stock, maintenance depots, infrastructures, systems, signalling, safety, fixed electric traction installations, interface management, project running, contractual engineering, etc.
Egis Rail’s technical expertise has the advantage of covering all working areas related to rail transport through a single interlocutor. An overall, coherent approach towards rail transport allows for the optimisation of projects and better management of the various interfaces.
High-Speed Railway Line
One of the first private engineering firms to work on high-speed rail
From the start of the construction of the PARIS-LYONS line, our engineers were involved in route restoration. Since then, Egis Rail has been involved, in one way or another, in all the projects relating to the high-speed network.
Our growing involvement in the high-speed rail sector has sprung from the company’s own experience in our original areas of expertise, combined with our capacity to put this to work to meet the specific needs of the infrastructure managers or railway developers according to context. Egis Rail’s structural combination of technical soundness and a “project-based” approach provides expertise for railway project managers, both in terms of technology and cost/deadline risk awareness.
